Notes on a Trip to Ferry Land - 6
Kayaking Orient Point
On our third and final day in Ferry Land, we wanted to kayak. We also didn’t want to miss our ferry back to Connecticut, so we decided to kayak at the Orient Point park, just around the corner from the ferry landing.
This turned out to be a really good decision. It was a beautiful day and the park was huge, perfect for kayaking, and practically deserted.
I’m talking calm water, miles and miles of pristine beaches, and the occasional scenic sailboat gliding by. It could have been the Caribbean. It could have been Tahiti.
I don’t bring my camera on the kayak, so these pictures were taken with my aging iPhone. I hope they give you a sense that this was a magical few hours of peace and beauty.
The beaches were covered with attractive shells and pebbles as far as the eye could see.
I’m not sure what the rules are about beachcombing in a New York State Park. If it’s against the law, then we must have picked these up someplace else.

I love your last sentence! When I was in practice (probably now too) this was called “building a record.” I’m sure the Future Defendants of America would approve.
