Paradox Song
We end this series with lyrics to a paradoxical love song.
I haven’t yet figured out how to make this work, but at some point I’m hoping to create a space where readers to could submit audio or video files of their renditions of MacGougan at Large songs. My working title for the space is Ad Lib Karaoke.
“WE’RE A PARADOX” It’s plain to see Baby, you and me We’re a paradox Irreconcilable as a pair of clocks But complementary as a pair of socks Like birds and bees Or maybe two M.D.s We’re a paradox. The paradox of you and me is one and one makes three We contradict each other - and yet look, we both agree! It’s plain to see Baby, you and me We’re a mystery. Our future’s balanced by a history That’s sometimes sweet and sometimes blistery Like a slick whodunnit Or the one who spun it We’re a mystery. The paradox of you and me is something old and new We’re opposites in many ways - yet look, we both are true! It’s plain to see Baby, you and me We’re a paradox Irreconcilable as a pair of clocks But complementary as a pair of socks Like birds and bees Or maybe two M.D.s We’re a paradox.
